As the assistant provost for online and continuing professional education at WVU, Julie Thalman oversees the day-to-day operations of the WVU Online unit, which include new program development, special sessions, summer term, marketing, State Authorization, and enrollment services. Wanting to further help non-traditional learners achieve their education goals, she created the Learner Engagement Center in August of 2020, which employs admission coaches that help prospective students from the point of application to graduation.
Prior to her current position, Thalman served as the director of student engagement, outreach and marketing for Academic Innovation. Julie also served as an adjunct faculty member for the Art Institutes for eight years, teaching a variety of marketing and advertising courses and developed curriculum for their Leadership Program.
Thalman holds an MBA with an emphasis in Management from Boise State University, and her M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications and B.A. in Psychology, both from WVU. She is very active in UPCEA and holds a leadership role in the Mid-Atlantic region.
