Liz Vitullo, PhD, serves as the assistant vice President for economic innovation at West Virginia University. In her role, she supports economic development efforts, workforce initiatives and other special projects to enhance economic prosperity for the state. Vitullo is also the co-founder of the WV Grant Resource Centers, the program director for the Chambers Elite Climbers and the director of Strategic Initiatives for the Cyber-Resilience Resource Center.

Prior to her current position, she held multiple roles at the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, including assistant dean for strategic initiatives, assistant dean for graduate programs, and program coordinator for the Healthcare MBA program and the full-time MBA and executive MBA programs. Vitullo led strategic initiatives and managed the portfolio of graduate programs at the college, launching its nationally ranked online MBA, which led to the creation of subsequent nationally ranked online master’s degree programs and other specialized programs for national guardsmen and corporate offerings.

Vitullo was part of the inaugural cohort of IDEA fellows at WVU and served as the dean of the Governor’s School for Entrepreneurship. She has served as an adjunct faculty member in entrepreneurship, marketing and management and has published in several areas. She serves as faculty mentor in the Doctorate of Business Administration program and as a mini-track chair for the Digital Government track for HICSS.

Vitullo received her PhD and MBA from WVU and her undergraduate and master’s degree from the University of Toronto. She serves on multiple boards and advisory committees throughout the state. She has been recognized as a West Virginia Wonder Women and West Virginia Sharp Shooter and is a graduate of Leadership WV and the Appalachian Regional Commission Leadership Institute. She lives in Morgantown with her husband, two daughters and son.
