Academic Transformation

Following a charge from President Gordon Gee in December 2020, the Office of the Provost is strengthening and evolving WVU’s academic enterprise to remain competitive and relevant to students, employers and the region.

Accreditation

Curriculum Innovation Challenge

In September 2022, the Office of the Provost launched a new Curriculum Innovation Challenge designed to inspire and provide support for the creation of innovative academic offerings. Challenge participants can earn up to $10,000 in grant funding.

In 2019, the Provost’s Office created a new associate provost for faculty development and culture position to ensure that WVU faculty have the adaptability and resiliency needed to ensure their individual career success.

Honorary Degrees

Each fall, the University community is invited to nominate outstanding individuals for the Honorary Doctorate Degree at WVU. The Provost's Office manages this effort.
