WVU Provost Search Process

West Virginia University is embarking on a national search to select the next provost and vice president for academic affairs.

This pivotal position administers all academic affairs, including overseeing our academic deans, academic programs, student support services, curriculum development, faculty engagement and recruitment, academic budgets, institutional data, and accreditation.

Our team of talented administrators and staff are dedicated to building innovative, future-focused academic programs and services that attract the best and brightest to WVU. We are thoughtful about the policies and procedures we create and steadfast in our commitment to ensuring the success of our students and faculty.

As our University navigates a new era in higher education, our next provost must continue to provide students with a high-quality education and academic experience and exemplary support for our faculty.

Launch online survey and announce a slate of listening sessions. 

Fall 2025

Launch Provost Profile

Publicly release the WVU Provost Profile and formally begin the recruitment process, accepting applications and nominations for candidates to become the next WVU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Recruitment

Recruit, research, and develop profiles to cultivate a robust talent pool of highly qualified candidates.

Evaluation

Facilitate interviews and complete reference checks.

Selection

Facilitate final review meeting.

Appointment

Announce the next West Virginia University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
