Recognizing Your Efforts

In Spring 2020, the WVU Office of the Provost launched its Most Valuable Player awards to recognize outstanding teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to teaching, the awards program has expanded to honor outstanding research and service efforts that support our institution’s academic mission during this unprecedented time.

Teaching MVP Awards

This student-nominated awards program recognizes faculty and instructors who went above and beyond to provide a high-quality educational experience for their students during the unprecedented Spring 2020 semester. A faculty committee reviewed more than 900 nominations and recommended top candidates for the award.

Service MVP Awards

Awardees are members of both formal teams and informal collaborations who provided a community-based approach to solving never-before-seen challenges in higher education. These honorees collectively created the structure, support and resources to keep our academic engine running despite a global pandemic.

Research MVP Awards

These awards recognize scholars who have done important COVID-19-related research that has contributed to our understanding of the virus and significantly impacted our ability to prevent its spread and lessen its adverse effects. Honorees include faculty, staff and students who contributed a wide range of scholarly activity and applied research since the onset of the pandemic.
