Accelerated Pathways and Dual Degree Program Proposal Outline

Use the following outline to develop a proposal for an accelerated bachelor’s to master’s pathway or dual degree program.

  1. Rationale for the program: What is the evidence of need for the new ABM or dual degree? What is the potential impact on enrollment for the existing undergraduate and graduate programs? How are the two participating programs aligned?
  2. Admission to the program: How will students apply to the new program and what standards must they meet to be accepted into the ABM or dual degree program?
  3. Academic standards:  What standards must the students continue to meet to remain in the ABM or dual degree? What are the probation and termination procedures for removing students who fail to meet those standards? For ABMs, at what specific point in the program is the student’s academic status switched from undergraduate to graduate?
  4. Plan of study: Upload a plan of study for the ABM or dual degree that shows how all required credit hours for both participating programs will be met.
  5. Shared coursework:  Identify the courses that will be counted towards both the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. A maximum of 12 credits may be shared between both programs and the Provost’s Office recommends that ABM’s share the maximum credits. The Provost’s Office also recommends that, whenever possible, graduate level courses are shared.  Dual degree programs should list all courses that will be shared requirements between the two programs.
  6. Requirements and catalog information: New program initiators must work with the Office of the University Registrar to ensure that all program requirements and curriculum requirements are entered and adhere to institutional policies and best practices.
