Dear Colleagues:

The Office of the Provost’s “Transform This! Challenge Grants” are back for another round of inspiring initiatives.

In collaboration with a faculty team, the Provost’s Office announces a second round of competitive Transform This! Challenge Grants. Originally launched in Spring 2020 to build on the momentum of the 2019 grassroots Strategic Transformation efforts, each round of Transform This! Challenge Grants will focus on projects and activities that promote one of the Strategic Transformation goals.

While the 2020 challenge focused on Goal #5 to create a culture that promotes “sustainability, well-being and an enriched quality of life," this new round of challenge grants will support projects and initiatives that support Goal #4 to be “a leader for social equity, inclusion and diversity.” The complete details about this goal can be found on the Provost’s Office website.

Faculty and staff members across all WVU campuses are encouraged to think of creative ways to create avenues for:

  • Recruiting and retaining diverse students, staff and faculty members to WVU;
  • Improving campus climate through intentional initiatives that promote all and support underrepresented groups;
  • Integrating social equity in the student experience and education; and/or
  • Creating opportunities for University community members to engage with a global perspective.

Collaborative projects that involve community partnerships and serve multiple constituents (faculty, staff, students, community members) are strongly encouraged. The Office of the Provost will award a maximum of $1,500 to up to 20 applicants.

Interested applicants must submit their projects online by 11:59 p.m. on March 26. The online submission form, application requirements and timeline can be found on the Transform This! website.

With the kickoff of the new challenge, the Provost’s Office is also celebrating the completed projects that were awarded Transform This! grants in 2020.

The projects promote specific practices and events that nurture a welcoming workplace and promote wellness and career growth. Updates, images, videos and other resources related to the 2020 projects are available on the website.

We look forward to seeing your applications and continuing our strategic transformation efforts at WVU.

Regards,

Faculty Senate Leadership and the Office of the Provost
