Academic Support Units

Overview

Phase 2 of Academic Transformation also brought about a review of the Provost’s Office’s Academic Support Units (or ASUs) to identify efficiencies and potential costs savings.

The goal is to create a more focused and cost-efficient suite of academic support services that support the academic units and serve students’ needs.

Process

  • Ask units to complete self-study surveys
  • Collect feedback from University stakeholders through additional surveys
  • Review organizational charts, job descriptions, personnel rosters and operating budgets
  • Conduct follow-up interviews with units (where needed)
  • Determine recommendation per unit; possible outcomes include:
    • Continue at current level of activity and/or staffing
    • Reduce level of activity and/or staffing
    • Revise mission
    • Consolidate/combine in part or whole with another unit
    • Discontinue unit
  • Present final recommendations to the Board of Governors
